Its not even 2 pm on the east coast and there has already been a slew of news to report today. Not to mention, there is a game tonight between two eastern rivals in New England and DC. Big news day here in the league folks.
At the beginning of the day it was learned that RSL’s GM had stepped down or was canned. Also and probably more importantly, Head coach John Ellinger was fired or he resigned this morning/early afternoon by the club. Ellinger will still stay with the organization, but will now be the team’s technical director/director of soccer operations.
Guess who may be in line to take his old position?
It just so happens that the league’s all-time goal scorer (for now at least) Jason Kries may be retiring now instead of the end of the season and become the new head coach of the Salt Lake side.
Funny how people had already set up websites to get Ellinger fired and I guess to their credit, it worked. It was no secret that this club had been horrible from the start. I said after they dropped points at home against FC Dallas to open the season that they would be in for a rough season.
Can’t say I saw Kries as the new head coach coming…there was talks of trying to bring in former Hoops coach Colin Clarke as their next coach. Yuck!
