First primetime game of the new MLS season. I love the way ESPN has been hyping the MLS season. Very creative commercials thus far.

Anyways, down to business at hand with LA Galaxy hosting FC Dallas.

In all honesty we know at this point the Hoops stole a point from Real Salt Lake this past weekend and that the Hoops have to travel after this game clear across the country to face New York on Sunday. Tough stretch that they can’t think about.

It’s the home opener for the Galaxy who, as we all know, have a whole hell of a lot on their plate this season. A solid draw last weekend in Houston. Lots of momentum from that game and the same goes for Dallas. Getting a draw the way they did can really lift a team after a bad game.

We know this much, Dallas can score and score at virtually anytime throughout a game. LA is another question, even with a man advantage against Houston, they failed to score. Now I don’t see them having too much problems against a very weak and questionable Dallas backline. You have to feel LandyCakes will stick his nose in there somewhere and create the chances for LA. Nate Jaqua may get his first goal as a member of the Galaxy.

Dallas has to find a way to shut down the midfield, something they had problems with against RSL, though I don’t feel that LA has the offense firepower to match RSL’s. If Dallas can own the midfield like they did the last 30 minutes of the game against RSL they could very well walk away with another point or three. If not, expect LA to own the field.

I see a close game but another draw for the two clubs. Ruiz has too much determination to lose games this season I feel and he will score one in this one. Hopefully I can right the ship and get back to picking games correctly. Last week wasn’t pretty by any means. Correctly picked the draw with NY/Columbus and the Chivas win over Toronto. Ouch.
WVH Prediction: LA Galaxy 1, FCD 1

Season record: 2-4
