In light of no real hardcore news as of yet today, there was this finding in the San Jose papers about the current progress of a new stadium to help bring back the Earthquakes to the Bay area.
Local government is pushing developer Lee Wolff to open up some of his so called ‘secrets’ about his stadium proposals and deals. I know this much, Wolff wants to purchase some low-end industrial zones and have the local government re-zone the area for residential use and for the new stadium for the Quakes and San Jose State University. The issue right now is about how the area can handle traffic for 1,500 townhomes and condos along with a 30,000(ish) seat stadium.
Wolff has stated the idea and plan is something the city wants and needs and is asking for their help.
However, the game of secrets is starting to wear thin on some locals in the Bay area. Sometimes you have to reveal the hand you have in order to get what you want. There is a lot of encouraging things here and I still believe that the Quakes will be up and running within the next couple years. There has just been too many positive pieces in motion here for this deal and situation to not end up in a positive manner.
If I were a Quakes fan I would feel a bit happy about where this is all leading to.
