If those were wondering about Eric Wynalda on today’s broadcast of the opening game of the MLS season. He was “suspended” for his recent comments about Jim Rome.
In all honesty, I felt Julie Foudy was a very good substitute for Wynalda. I’m glad it was her on the broadcast, she is very personable and doesn’t get too whiny like Wynalda would have been. I wouldn’t have been surprised if we had heard more about his man-crushes on Ben Olsen or Bobby Bosewell if he had been on the broadcast. Not to mention his total dislike for players better than him.
Expect to see Wynalda return to the broadcasts on Thursday when FC Dallas hosts LA. Perfect time for Wynalda to step back into a broadcast so he can continue his current dislike for Landon Donovan and the LA Galaxy. Not to mention its a prime-time gig now for the MLS, and having someone who is stupid like Wynalda would help the ratings. Expect Jim Rome to blast soccer more with the MLS being on prime-time.
