A new season is about to (finally) get underway. The 2007 campaign for the MLS is going to surely be one of the most talked about seasons in the league’s short history.

I have to say I am as jazzed as I have ever been  about a new MLS season here.  Six games this weekend and all should help slowly answer the many questions and wonders of what has been asked of this off season.

So here we go…

DC United at Colorado Rapids: I love this game to kick off the new season. A new park with new logos and colors for the Rapids taking on the best team in the league with DC. In all honesty I don’t know which way to lean on this one. I think Colorado will have some sort of edge with the new park but you have to think DC has the edge in talent. My concern for the Black and Red is how their mental state is after the Chivas loss, the defense looked terrible in that game (sure the competition was far greater) and you have to wonder just how they will respond. They do have a leg up on everyone else (along with Houston) on team chemistry, which should be huge for this early stage in the season. Colorado will keep it tight thought, I love the changes on defense. Though I still see DC winning this one. WVH Prediction: DC 2, Colorado 1

FC Dallas at Real Salt Lake: Its now time for the Freddy Show. Yes, RSL will give the keys to the jeep with Freddy, and that should be exciting to watch. For Dallas, big concern is the defense and the parts in the midfield. I still believe the edge will go to the Hoops based on the offensive power that they have with Cooper, Ruiz and Nunez. RSL still has some concerns but then again so do the Hoops. Another road team gets three points. WVH Prediction: FCD 1, RSL 0

Red Bull New York at Columbus Crew: I am already going to say it, expect this to be a draw. Seriously, still too many question with both teams. Columbus is still very young but could surprise many, while New York has no definite offensive output. Some people rate the Red Bulls pretty high going into the season while myself and other think the complete opposite. Again, if anyone were to win I would put money on the Crew, though expect a point for each team here. WVH Prediction: RBNY  1, Columbus 1

New England Revolution at Chicago Fire: Yeah, the Fire have Blanco…well not yet. And until then I won’t pick them in a game. They really have no offense and their defense is getting older by the second I think. New England will be fine this season and will be in the thick of things come October. I like the Revs in this one and I like Twellman getting off to a good start with a goal or two. WVH Prediction: New England 2, Chicago 0

Toronto FC at Chivas USA: Yeah, Toronto has added some good names but they all seem to be hurt. Typical expansion, once they get healthy I will probably be more incline to pick them in this situation. I like Chivas even though the players they lost were solid ones. I want to see if Guevara steps up or not. If he does Chivas wins this easily. Many people are quick to forget about the offense that this team does have. They didn’t lose that much, just some strong midfielders but they did gain a very good one in Guevara. I like the Goats in this game, its just too early to say that TFC will play well this early. WVH Prediction: Chivas 3, TFC 1

LA Galaxy at Houston Dynamo: LandyCakes looks more determined than ever but will it be enough until Beckham gets over here? Possibly. But as for this game on Sunday, the Dynamo will be raising a championship banner or celebrating it in some fashion. I like the Dynamo even though there are some health issues surrounding them. I just need to see that LA can gel together before I start saying they will win. Go with the defending champs here. WVH Predictions: Houston 2, LA 1

The Wizards are the off team this week encase anyone wondered. Yeah. Enjoy opening day everyone!
