Yesterday’s and even in some places today’s talk are still of Eric Wynalda’s drunken comments on the world of soccer. Today though, Wynalda (via ESPN release) has issued an apology for the comments made towards Jim Rome.
For those who didn’t read, I strongly urge you to take a gander and read the full article, on FulhamUSA, which had by the way, blown up and gotten tons of hits because of this.
Here are the comments that got Wynalda in “trouble”, though you have to feel that many at ESPN would have wanted to say the same exact thing.
“Jim Rome can suck — —-. And he should be very afraid, because I’m the kind of guy, if I get too many drinks in me, I will club his —.”
The issued apology reads:
“These remarks were not meant for public use, but that’s my mistake,” Wynalda said in a statement. “I totally regret this. I’m embarrassed by it. I have personally apologized to Jim Rome, to ESPN and to my family. I also apologize to others whom I have offended. This will never happen again.”
I think this calls for a celebrity death-match, only in real life. One of these two need to go out and in all honestly the world may be a better place for it.
