BMO Joins the Jersey Sponsor Game

BMO Joins the Jersey Sponsor Game

Toronto has decided to join the likes of Real Salt Lake and LA Galaxy in getting a sponsor for their shirt. BMO the company that sponsors their stadium will also have a logo on their shirt. I like the greys for some reason. The kits are still classy I feel. Nice work.

Galaxy To Enjoy Herbs for 4 years

Galaxy To Enjoy Herbs for 4 years

What should have been a deal for a much larger contract with Citibank to be the shirt sponsor for the LA Galaxy, ended up being a much lesser contract for a company called Herbalife. The contact is for four years worth $3-4 million a year. Less than half of what the Galaxy would have gotten…[continue reading]

Jon Busch Can’t Catch a Break

With Toronto’s trade the other day of Richard Mulrooney from Dallas left the new expansion side with one too many senior international players of the roster. So what’s a coach to do? Mo Johnston announced today that TFC would be releasing recently acquired keeper Jon Busch. Busch as most remember was waived by Columbus and…[continue reading]

San Jose Sells Out Friendly

Hear that San Jose sold out 47,000 tickets for a game that doesn’t include any Americans? Yeah, 47,000 tickets for a Mexico vs. Ecuador game at McAfee Colesium in Oakland. I have to say this is great news for the owners of the possible expansion/rebirth franchise of the San Jose Earthquakes. Getting 47,000 tickets sold…[continue reading]

More on the Mulrooney Trade

I’ve let this sit for a little while here. As talked about yesterday, Hoops trade away midfielder Richard Mulrooney to Toronto FC for allocation money and a first round draft pick in next year’s draft. Most hate this deal on paper, and probably for good reason. Hoops fans wanted to see Mulrooney succeed after injury…[continue reading]

No Sponsor For Galaxy Just Yet

The wonderful Soccer Insider, Steve Goff broke word a little bit ago about how the Galaxy will not have Citibank across their chest this season. The apparent $49 million deal for five years seemed to end up nowhere. Sad story really, I was very hopeful to see that deal for the Galaxy and for the…[continue reading]

Hoops Trade Mulrooney to Toronto

Hoops Trade Mulrooney to Toronto

Another midfielder traded away to expansion side Toronto from Dallas. The latest, all-star defensive midfielder Richard Mulrooney was traded by the Hoops to Toronto for allocation and next year’s first round draft choice. I have to say this deal surprises me a bit since Mulrooney was back and healthy again after knee injuries. Though its…[continue reading]

Who’s To Blame?

Over the past couple months we have been treated to the wonderful messages on MLSnet about a “major announcement” that ends up being just some sort of deal or talk that kind of lets us all down. Are we the internet soccer blogging community to blame or is it the league itself to blame for…[continue reading]

People Are Still Moving…

More movement in the MLS, a few moves to note. Some aren’t completely finalized but they are almost as good as done. So here it goes: Inbound Chicago Ryan Coiner (trade w/Columbus) Chivas USA David Arvizu (trade w/New York) Edwin Borboa (Chivas – Mexico) Jorge Barrera (Chivas – Mexico) Cameron Dunn (draft) Maykel Galindo (Seattle…[continue reading]

Should Have Gotten Cherry Coke

Yeah, as I mentioned earlier, I am currently on the road, in Austin, Texas visiting the lady friend of mine. She is in class right now, so it means I have ample time to find some news and talk about it. I have a couple teams that I hope to get previewed by the end…[continue reading]
