Should Have Gotten Cherry Coke

Yeah, as I mentioned earlier, I am currently on the road, in Austin, Texas visiting the lady friend of mine. She is in class right now, so it means I have ample time to find some news and talk about it.

I have a couple teams that I hope to get previewed by the end of the day today. Depends on time and my desire to preview them. Sometimes that goes hand in hand.

But hey guess what? 19 more days until the MLS season kicks off!!

I read this post on Red Bull Rising this morning when I woke up. Probably the first thing I read today really. About Sharlie Joesph and the New England Revolution. This article seemingly talks about how Joesph wants MLS and New England to pony up the money or get him out of there. Glasgow Celtic offered Joesph a nice contract over the winter transfer season but the league turned it down.

Honestly, as much as I would have hated to see the former St. John’s standout go abroad, it would have been the best move for him, and probably for the Revs. Sure, it sucks to get rid of a talented defensive midfielder like Sharlie but when you piss off a guy like that he will probably make the locker room a weird place until he gets what he wants.

He wants more money and if the Revs don’t give it to him or transfer him elsewhere in the world, he wants a team in the league who can pay him well. If you ask me, as a Dallas fan, FCD would be stupid to pass on a deal for him. They need defensive help the most right now. I am sure there is some allocation money as well as a designated player money out there that they can throw at him.

I got a chuckle at The Office Rules post about “50-50 Ball: Why Watch MLS?“. Its either sleep with a hot Spanish chick or sleep with a local so-so. I understand the analogy behind the subject and though as much as getting it on with a hot foreigner sounds, I will probably take the local chick (MLS) any day.

Heard Richardo Clark of the Houston Dynamo got injured not to long ago. No word on who will take his spot on the upcoming US National team games. My mind is telling me that maybe Pablo Mastroeni would be a fit to replace Clark. Nonetheless, I hope the knee gets better.

Vasco USA has posted predictions for the upcoming MLS season, by conference. Taking expansion side Toronto to finish second in the East is a bit surprising, but I do keep saying they will shock some people this season. Solid picks either way. Mine will be up once the team previews are finished.

Big surprise in the Cobi Jones announcement today, okay it wasn’t a surprise at all, we all knew the announcement was for Jones to be walking away after the 2007 season. I think Jones is one of the league’s best players to take the field. Very underrated overall I think. The Galaxy will value his experience this season as they will undergo a huge media frenzy with the arrival of David Beckham.

But really, it is a good time for Jones to walk away from the game. He is getting a bit old but at least he as a couple MLS titles to his name. One of the few players left from the original MLS lineups.

Hear the word that Toronto FC sold out their season tickets? SOLD OUT? Damn. How they did it is beyond me, but seriously, maybe it is time for other teams in the league to take note on how to sell tickets to the locals!

Thanks for the link ups. Toronto has just to much talent, and with the rest of the east not improving except for dc. fortunately i waited on the east, ihad to drop NE after the joseph comments.
