The two best teams in the MLS are showing their worth right now in a high stakes club competition. Houston downs Mexican side Puchuca 2-0 and DC and Chivas went to a 1-1 draw.
The sides will both now go on the road and play in Mexico in two weeks to wrap up the series. For Houston, a 2-0 lead going into the second leg is huge. If anything all they need to do is get a win, draw, or not lose by more than 2 goals and they will go on to the CONCACAF Champions Cup final.
As for DC, their work is a little more difficult since they weren’t able to get a sizable lead on the Goats before heading into the second leg. It will be a tough test on the road but if they pull it out (as if Houston does too) it will be an all American final.
This is probably one of the best showings out of any MLS clubs and the possibility of two MLS clubs in the final is huge going into the new season. I would love to see an all MLS final next month. Let’s just hope it happens for the league.
