Houston dropped it’s first game 1-0 today in the CONCACAF Champions Cup. From what it appears the Dynamo looked really out of this game from the start. Puntarenas getting multiple chances at net, even getting a PK at one point. Houston was slowed down by the fact that Eddie Robinson was red carded.
Also, keeper Pat Onstad was injured in the game. Apparently thanks to a collision, he hurt his ankle. No reports on how serious the injury is.
DC, however, dropped a big score 4-1 over Olimpia down in Hondorus. Great result for the Black-And-Red and for the MLS really. That is a win the league needed as much as DC did I believe. Maybe even one of the best in the league’s history in foreign territory.
Update: Goals to DC came from newly acquired striker and former Olimpia player Luciano Emilio, Christian Gomez netted a deuce, and defender Facundo Erpen rounded out things for DCU.
From what it sounds like and from the few minutes that I caught, DC has quite the trio of Emilio, Gomez and Moreno now. I had doubts for new head coachTom Soehn going into this match but it was a solid debut for him.
