More and more now it looks like Zidane won’t be in Fire red come this spring when the MLS kicks off it’s 11th season. The French midfielder has claimed he wouldn’t not sign a deal worth anything less than $15 million a year.
Reports are also saying that Zidane and the Fire have yet to even invoke into a conversation about him joining the team.
New York has always had interest in Zidane and depending on what you read and who your sources are, Zidane may or may not be going to New York. Some are saying that it is very unlikely for him to suit up for the Red Bulls, while others are saying the exact opposite as New York is ready to throw a lot of cash at him.
Do remember that New York is owned by a pretty rich company in Red Bull, and they are willing to throw the cash at him if it could happen. New York has already used up one designated players in Cladio Reyna this off season. They have one more to go and Zidane would be a big boost if it were to happen.
As I have stated before, Zidane is an instant upgrade for whoever gets a hold of his services in the upcoming season, should he decided to sign a contract with a MLS team. The possibilities of him going to New York sound real juicy for me. Even with New York’s lack of success in the past, getting Zidane could very well change their fortunes.
